What is AI?
Artificial intelligence (AI) is an area of computer science which effectively creates intelligent machines that work and react like humans. Ultimately, it enables computers to emulate our behavior, thus, they can learn from our experiences, adjust to new inputs and eventually perform human-like tasks more efficiently than us. People today maybe amenable to the fact that computers will be more proficient in completing tasks, but it may take generations of humans to entirely trust machines. Artificial Intelligence has matured over the past few decades but it has always been an essential part of the evolution of technology. Organisations and businesses such as SAS are making AI run all their analytics and background algorithms in an ardent effort to deliver an output that has semblance to the human mind.
Many AI researchers have augured that computers will surpass human intelligence in the near future. Even though computers may exceed the brain in completing elementary tasks such as sequential, simple arithmetic equations, however, when it comes to more complex problems, the computer is still said to be less efficient compared to our intricate brain.
Big Data
Big Data is data that transcends the processing capability of computational machines. Furthermore, Big Data is large amounts of both, structured and unstructured data which migrate too fast for the machines to process.
Deep Learning
A type of machine learning that involves establishing basic parameters about the data and training the system to learn on its own by recognizing patterns.
Machine Learning
A branch of AI concerned with building systems that require minimal human intervention to learn from data and make accurate predictions.
Strong AI
Strong AI, AKA Full AI, is an artificial intelligence that has mental capabilities and functions that impersonate the human brain.
Weak AI
Weak AI, also known as narrow AI, is when artificial intelligence only focuses on one narrow task which is specialised to doing it effectively. It is the contrast to the Strong AI.
AI is likely to be either the best or worst thing to happen to humanity.
